Commonly Asked Questions

How do I request assistance?

Duress is an app that runs on your phone. To request Police, simply tap a button or shake your phone.

What happens when I declare an emergency?

When you declare an emergency, your phone streams live video and audio, as well as location tracking and your profile data. This information is sent instantly to Duress Operations Centre.

Who is notified during an emergency?

When you declare an emergency, the video, location and profile data are all streamed live to the Duress Operations Centre who are authorised to urgently request Police to your location. Police can also request access to the live video and location data. In addition, the people nominated at your organisation also receive live video and location data.

What is the Duress Operations Centre?

The Duress Operations Centre is a fortified bunked located in Australia. It is staffed 24/7 with trained Operators who review incoming emergencies from the Duress network. The Duress Operations Centre is A1 ASIAL Graded, the highest grading in Australia, and the staff are authorised to urgently request Police to your location.

What if I accidentally declare an emergency?

If you accidentally declare an emergency, or you wish to cancel your emergency, simply enter your PIN. The Duress Operations Centre may call you to confirm you are safe.

How do I add users to our organisations account?

You can add, remove and transfer users from your online dashboard. Simply login and enter the email address of the people you wish to add, and they will be emailed instructions on setting up Duress on their phone.

Can I review an emergency after it has occurred?

You can review all emergencies from your online dashboard, including the live video and location tracking.

What are the benefits of Duress over older style Duress buttons?

Duress is designed to use the cutting edge technology built into your phone, such as GPS tracking and video streaming. This means your staff always have a duress button on them without the need for extra hardware (such as lanyards, plastic buttons etc) that need to be maintained, charged and carried with them all the time. In addition, Duress streams live video, which makes it much easier for Operators and the Police to see what is happening and evaluate how urgent the emergency is. Finally Duress lets your users know the status of the emergency - they can see if they are being monitored, if their admins have been notified, and if Police have been requested, all in real time.
