Access, egress and floors
Mark each item pass, fail or not applicable. Every fail goes in the findings table with an owner.
- Walkways and aisles clear of obstructions
- Floors free of spills, damage, trip hazards and trailing cables
- Emergency exits unlocked, unobstructed and clearly signed
- Exit and emergency lighting working
- Stairs, ramps and handrails in good condition
- External paths and car parks free of potholes and adequately lit
- Pedestrian and vehicle routes separated or clearly marked
Fire and emergency equipment
- Extinguishers in place, accessible, and service tags in date
- Fire hose reels and blankets accessible and undamaged
- Evacuation diagrams displayed and matching the current layout
- Assembly point signage in place
- Alarm call points unobstructed
- First aid kits stocked, in date, and their locations signed
- Emergency contact numbers, including 999, displayed
- Spill kits stocked, where chemicals are used
Electrical and equipment
- Leads and plugs free of visible damage, test tags in date where required
- Power boards not overloaded or daisy-chained
- Switchboards accessible and closed
- Machine guards fitted and interlocks functioning
- Ladders and steps in good condition and stored properly
- Tools and equipment maintained, with defect reports actioned
- Damaged or faulty equipment tagged out of service
Storage, chemicals and housekeeping
- Racking and shelving undamaged, loads within rated capacity
- Heavy items stored between knee and shoulder height
- Nothing stored on top of cupboards or within 500 mm of sprinkler heads
- Chemicals labelled, stored to their safety data sheets, and the register current
- Waste removed regularly, bins not overflowing
- Amenities clean: toilets, kitchen, drinking water
- Lighting adequate in all work areas, no flickering or failed tubes
- Noise, temperature and ventilation reasonable for the work being done
People and process
- PPE being worn where signage or procedures require it
- New or inexperienced workers being supervised
- Safe operating procedures available at the point of use
- Incident and hazard reports since the last inspection reviewed and actioned
- Lone worker check-in arrangements operating, where relevant
- Contractors on site inducted and following site rules
