Duress exists to keep people safe. The same care we put into protecting workers, we put into being responsible about the technology we build and the footprint it leaves behind.
We are a safety company first, and we would rather be honest than polished. Some of what follows is what we do today. Some is what we are actively working toward. We will tell you which is which.
Built to last, not to bin
Most of what Duress makes is hardware that stays in service for years. Our wearables, the Phoenix safety card, the Falcon platform and the Eagle body-worn camera, are built as durable, rechargeable fleet devices, not disposable gadgets.
They are designed to be redeployed across a workforce, reassigned as teams change, and updated over the air rather than thrown away and replaced. A device that lasts and gets reused is the single biggest contribution a hardware company can make to reducing waste, and it sits at the centre of how we design.
Responsible hardware
We do not manufacture in house. Our devices are built through a small number of specialist manufacturing partners, and we expect them to share our standards on materials, packaging and waste.
Our devices carry CE and RoHS marks. RoHS is the one that matters most here: it restricts the hazardous substances allowed in electronics, such as lead, mercury and cadmium, so the hardware we put on people is cleaner to make, safer to handle and less harmful at the end of its life.
Responsible end of life
Electronics should not end up in landfill. We take back end-of-life Duress devices from our customers, refurbishing and reusing them where we can and recycling the rest responsibly rather than sending it to general waste. A device coming back to us is a device that gets another life, or is broken down properly, instead of sitting in a drawer or a bin.
A lighter way to run safety
A connected safety platform removes a lot of the old, wasteful way of doing things. Incident reporting that used to be paper and filing is now digital, captured through Pathfinder and Duress Live Reporting. Round-the-clock monitoring means the right response is sent the first time, which cuts down on unnecessary call-outs and travel.

Local data, cleanly powered
We store each customer's data in their own part of the world. Australian data stays in Australia, UK data in the United Kingdom, and US data in the United States. That matters for privacy and data sovereignty, and it means your service runs on local infrastructure powered by local clean energy.
In every region we operate, we host with a leading cloud provider chosen in part for its environmental credentials. These are among the largest corporate buyers of renewable energy in the world, each working toward net-zero carbon. Our Australian provider, for example, matches 100% of the electricity it uses with renewable energy, is the country's biggest corporate buyer of renewable energy, and is funding new solar and wind projects across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Running on shared, highly efficient cloud infrastructure is also far less wasteful than every company operating its own servers. We build efficiently and process only what we need to keep people safe.
