What it actually costs over three years.

Hardware is the number vendors quote. The total is hardware plus licence plus monitoring plus replacement, over however long you keep it. This works out the real figure from our published catalog prices, with term and volume discounts applied.

What is in the number

What a total actually has to include

Most vendor quotes cover the hardware and the first year. Four things get left out, and together they are usually a bigger number than the devices:

  • The licence. Per user, every month, for as long as you use it. At $35 AUD per user per month, a team of 25 over three years is far more than the hardware.
  • Monitoring. Ask whether it is included or a paid tier. Ours is included in the licence, which is why there is no separate line for it below.
  • Replacement. Devices get lost, dropped and left in taxis. Budget for it rather than discovering it.
  • Renewal. Ask what happens to the price at the end of the term, and get the answer in writing before you sign.

The calculator above includes the first three. The fourth is a question to put to any vendor, including us.

Questions

Common questions

What is total cost of ownership for a lone worker system?
Everything you pay across the time you use it: hardware up front, the per-user licence every month, monitoring if it is charged separately, replacements for lost and damaged devices, and any change at renewal. Hardware alone is usually the smallest part of it over three years.
Is monitoring included in these prices?
Yes. Accredited 24/7 monitoring is included in the per-user licence rather than sold as a separate tier, which is why there is no separate monitoring line in the breakdown. When comparing vendors, check this specifically, because a low licence price with monitoring as an add-on can end up higher.
How accurate is the replacement allowance?
It is a planning assumption, not a price: 10% of devices per year, which is a reasonable default for equipment carried daily in the field. Your own loss rate may be lower for office-based teams or higher for high-turnover ones. Switch it off to see the figure without it.
Why is the app cheaper than the hardware options?
There is no device to buy, so you pay the licence only. It is the right answer for teams who always have their phone and reliable coverage. It is the wrong answer where a phone is impractical to reach in a confrontation, or where the work happens in poor coverage. Our device comparison covers that trade-off honestly.
Does this include freight or accessories?
No. Freight is calculated at checkout from your delivery location, and accessories such as chargers, clips and docks are priced separately. The figure here is the recurring cost of the system itself.
