Accessibility

Duress is committed to building products and a public website that meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with the aspiration of Level AAA where it does not compromise the safety-first product experience. Safety equipment that can't be used in stress, with low vision, or with reduced motor control isn't safety equipment.

Conformance target

WCAG 2.2 Level AA across (a) duress.com, (b) the Duress mobile app on iOS and Android, and (c) the Pathfinder admin web app. Our most recent third-party accessibility audit was conducted in Q1 2026; the gap items are tracked publicly in our product roadmap and are being addressed against the published target dates.

How we test

• Manual keyboard-only testing on every release of duress.com and Pathfinder.
• VoiceOver, TalkBack, and NVDA testing on the Duress mobile app's emergency flows.
• Automated linting (axe-core, Pa11y) on every pull request that touches the front end.
• Annual third-party audit by a specialist firm against WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Feedback channel below, monitored by the product team.

Known gaps

• Some long-form case studies on this site contain quoted material from customers that has not been reviewed for plain-language scoring.
• Decorative video segments on the homepage rely on poster images. The actual content of any video segment is duplicated as written text on the same page.
• Pathfinder's deep-dive analytics views are usable with screen readers but not yet optimised for them. Optimisation is on the Q3 2026 roadmap.

Specific commitments

• Emergency activation. The duress activation flow on the Duress mobile app meets WCAG 2.2 AAA contrast and tap-target targets. This is a safety-critical interaction; we hold it to a higher bar than the rest of the surface.
• No motion-only signalling. Status changes are communicated by text, colour, and shape together, never colour alone or motion alone.
• Reduced motion. All animations on duress.com respect prefers-reduced-motion.
• Hardware design. Falcon, Phoenix, and Eagle's primary activation surfaces are tactile and identifiable without sight.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site or in any Duress product, email accessibility@duress.com. Please include the page or screen, the assistive technology you're using, and a description of what didn't work. We respond within three business days and will offer an alternative way to access the same information while we resolve the issue.

Formal complaints

If our response doesn't resolve the issue, you may escalate to the relevant accessibility regulator in your jurisdiction (the Australian Human Rights Commission, the UK Equality and Human Rights Commission, or the New Zealand Human Rights Commission). We will cooperate fully with any investigation.
